There really is something for everyone at this year's event!

A family friendly atmosphere has always been a key part of Godiva Festival and with popular events such as the children’s fairground and the petting farm returning, to go along with incredible live music and comedy, there’s something for all ages again this year.

The Lives & Times and Greenpeace areas will also be back this year. It’s going to be full of interesting groups to chat to, such as amphibian and reptile conservationists, beekeepers and woodworkers. There will also be craft activities and even a miniature train to ride!

The sports arena is returning as well and as part of celebrating Coventry being European City of Sport 2019, there will be an extensive range of sports for families to try out throughout the weekend. Hawkwise Falconry will also be in attendance, introducing families to the sport of falconry and birds of prey.

Brand new this year will be the Experi-tent, delivered by Ludic Rooms. The tent will have tinkering opportunities for all ages; a dome play space that can be hacked and modified, a giant marble run that children can help to build, knock down and re-build; beautiful eye-popping digital images that they can peek at and play with; opportunities to sketch and print; and a VR experience too!

In the Paradise Tent, on the Saturday, will be a variety of performers including the Black Eagles African Acrobatic team. Combining stunning acrobatic skills and energetic dance, this will be a breath-taking performance not to be missed.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Events, said: ‘‘The festival’s family friendly outlook is one of the main reasons Godiva Festival is such a special event. So, I’m incredibly pleased that we’re offering such a wide range of fantastic family events.

"Between our wonderful family activities and brilliant live music, there really is something for everyone. Given the excellent family attractions on offer and the artist line-up now complete, we also want to encourage people to buy their tickets in advance, to beat the queues and guarantee entry.”

A wide range of promotional and charity stalls will be across the site, including a variety of food stalls to suit all tastes, as well as fun stalls for glitter tattoos, face painting and more.

With just three weeks to go until the festival kicks off, make sure you beat the queues by buying your tickets now at www.godivafestival.com/tickets.

Dom Breadmore, Ludic Rooms Creative Director, said: "We're really excited to be taking over a tent at Godiva Festival for the first time. With the help of friends from both Coventry University and the University of Warwick we've pulled together a great mix of activities for all ages with our own special blend of creative fun, technology, making and play."

A spokesperson for the Hawkwise Falconry said: “Hawkwise Falconry was created out of a passion for birds of prey and a love of the sport of falconry. So, we’re delighted to be able to return to this year’s Godiva Festival and share this passion with so many families.  Make sure you get your tickets, so you can come and see us at the festival!”

Godiva Festival 2019 will take place from Friday 5 July to Sunday 7 July in the City’s War Memorial Park.

Coventry Godiva Festival is brought to you by Coventry City Council, in association with Free Radio and Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and is supported by Coventry College.
