As excitement builds for Coventry’s flagship festival, organisers have confirmed the first wave of artists who will be playing at this year’s event, which runs from 2-4 September 2022.

Headlining on the Friday night will be British rock superstars, The Libertines. The critically acclaimed band have released three albums since they arrived on the scene in 1997 with two of those albums going platinum. They will be joined up-and-coming Coventry indie outfit Idle Noise and Ukrainian folk fusion band Cov Kozaks.

Tom Grennan will be the headline act on the Saturday. The acclaimed singer-songwriter will be taking over the Main Stage for a bombastic performance infused with the spirit of soul and gospel music. Katy B, known for her smash hit ‘Katy on a Mission’, will also be performing on the Main Stage on Saturday. Throughout the day they’ll also be performances by hip hop duo A1 x J1, dance pop favourite Gracey and Coventry icon Neville Staple – From The Specials.

Away from the Main Stage on the Saturday, the second stage will see the return of Reflection presents Daylight Robbery. Reflection, who put on the immensely popular ‘House is a Feeling’ show last year, will be putting on a show celebrating Coventry’s dance and drum and bass heritage. That show will be headlined by a bass heavy performance from Australian dance superstar LUUDELUUDE will be joined by Coventry Icon Jeff ‘Man’ Parris and Drum and Bass star Georgie Riot.

On the Sunday, Bananarama will be performing their catalogue of pop mega hits when they headline the Main Stage. They’ll be joined by award winning rock band The Feeling in addition to Craig Charles who’ll be bringing some soulful groove to the festival with his Funk and Soul Club.

These are just a small part of this year’s exciting and eclectic line-up which also features beatboxing icon Beardyman and punk rock trio Dream Wife whose performance at the Festival is in partnership with Boudica Festival. The announcement of the first wave of artists comes at the same time as early bird tickets for the festival go on sale. Tickets will be available to buy from www.godivafestival.com/buytickets from 7am on Wednesday 27 April. People are being encouraged to get their early bird tickets to save money ahead of the advanced and on the day ticket sales which will increase and to avoid disappointment.

Day tickets bought in the initial early bird period (up to 30 June), can be bought for as little as £4 and a weekend pass for £15.

“Godiva Festival has long had a reputation for mixing top name acts with some of this city’s finest talent and this year’s line-up is no different. From indie-rock and pop to ska and dance, there really is something for everyone here. It’s shaping up to be another fantastic festival and we’ll have more exciting announcements in the months to come too.

 “We are also very conscious of the challenging times financially that lots of people are facing at present, so  I encourage everyone to get their tickets early to save money and avoid missing out.”

Festival-goers can look forward to seeing Tom Grennan, The Libertines, Bananarama and much more, over the Godiva Festival weekend, 2-4 September, in the city’s War Memorial Park.
