Conditions of entry and prohibited items

Conditions of entry and prohibited items are subject to change.

Conditions of entry

Coventry City Council and their representatives reserve the right to refuse entry to the site, and access will be restricted by the following conditions of entry. Failure to comply with these conditions will result in you being turned away from the Festival site:

  • Admission to the event site will only be authorised upon representation of a valid ticket and proof of photographic identity may be required at time of entry. One ticket will be required for each person, regardless of age. Tickets can be purchased online now.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Proof of identity may be requested. A maximum number of 4 persons aged 16 and under will be allowed entry with each adult.
  • Please do not damage or lose the wristband you are given upon entry. Without a wristband, you will not be permitted to return to the festival the same day without paying again to re-enter the festival. Re-admission for ticket holders may be permitted but this must be requested once ticket has been traded for a wristband. No re-entry will be permitted after 9pm.
  • For the purposes of safety, security and/or checking compliance with these conditions, each ticket holder shall, if requested by any authorised person ('Authorised Person' is anyone who is part of the Godiva Staff, Security or Stewards), co-operate and comply fully with the instructions and guidelines of such authorised person (including by producing a valid ticket and photographic proof of identity and proof of age (driver’s licence or passport))
  • Ticket holders may be requested to submit to a metal detecting wand search and/or a search of his/her possessions and/or vehicle for the purposes of locating and removing any prohibited items (see the below list of prohibited items for more information), and any refusal by the ticket holder may result in refusal of admission to or eviction from the event site without refund or compensation. You are allowed a bag but it must be no bigger than A4 size.
  • Anyone found in possession of drugs or weapons will be reported to the police and may face arrest.
  • Anyone who is noticeably under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any behaviour-modifying substance, or is behaving, or considered by any Authorised Person likely to behave, violently, harmfully or in a manner contrary to public order and/or safety will be refused entry to the site or will be ejected from the site.
  • Dogs are NOT permitted within the Festival site. Please do not bring your dog or you will be refused entry. Only guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted on site. If you have an assistance dog, please bring your dog’s Assistance Dogs ID book or other documents that identify your dog as an assistance dog.
  • Anyone who, whilst within the site or vicinity thereof, engages in disruptive, dangerous or violent behaviour including (without limitation) throwing, casting, thrusting or propelling any object at any person, instigates violence, demonstrates racism or xenophobia, behaves in a way that any reasonable person may interpret as provocative, threatening, discriminatory and/or offensive, creates or poses any threat to the life or safety of themselves or any other person(s), or harms any other person(s) in any way, or unreasonably obstructs the viewing of other spectators; will be refused entry to the site or will be ejected from the site.
  • Anyone who we reasonably believe may display COVID 19 symptoms or who may not have followed Government guidelines or our guidelines or entry requirements will be refused entry.

By attending this event, you give your express consent to your actual/ simulated likeness to be included for no fee within any audio or visual recording to be used in any media for any purpose at any time. This includes filming by the police or security staff which may be carried out for the security of customers and/or the prevention of crime.

Godiva Festival and COVID-19

To help us to reduce the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you do not attend the Festival if:

  • you have tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the commencement of the Festival;
  • you display any symptoms of COVID-19;
  • you live with somebody who displays symptoms of COVID-19 or who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the commencement of the Festival;
  • you are otherwise required to self-isolate.

Prohibited items:

Please do NOT bring the following items to the Godiva Festival site. They will be confiscated and you may be refused entry or ejected from the site if you are found to have them in your possession:

  • Chinese lanterns
  • Candles 
  • Paraffin lamps
  • Chemical toilets
  • Sound systems
  • Generators 
  • Any BBQ or cooking equipment including disposable BBQs
  • Glass items
  • Golf umbrellas
  • Alcohol
  • Drinks (sealed, unopened 500ml bottles of water will be accepted) 
  • Drones
  • Laser pens
  • Unofficial high vis jackets 
  • Potential weapons of any kind 
  • New psychoactive substances, Poppers and Nitrous Oxide
  • Illegal substances
  • Fireworks
  • Compressed gas containers
  • Aerosols (including but not restricted to deodorants, antiperspirants, hairspray, dry shampoo)
  • Flares
  • Air horns
  • Smoke bombs
  • Flag sticks
  • Banners
  • Signs or materials displaying political, religious, offensive or race-related messages, slogans or images
  • Any item that an authorised person considers dangerous, hazardous and/or illegal or that may be used as a weapon or a missile or that may compromise or otherwise interfere with the enjoyment, comfort or safety of (or pose a hazard to) any person or security at the event site
  •  Animals (other than assistant dogs)
  •  Any tripods or video camera equipment whatsoever (whether or not for personal use)
  • Any camera or other type of photographic or recording device (of any nature whatsoever and whether capturing audio, or still or moving pictures) other than for personal use
  • Any objects bearing trademarks or other kinds of promotional signs and messages (of whatever nature) which we or any authorised person believes are for promotional purposes (and any Prohibited Items may be removed, confiscated and/or destroyed even if the item itself is not illegal without compensation at the discretion of any authorised person);

Want to do your bit for the environment and bring a refillable water bottle? No problem! But please ensure it’s empty when you arrive, or you may be asked to empty it. Free water stations will be on site so you can fill up your bottles throughout your stay.

Security checks and searches are in place at the Festival entrances.  No large bags are allowed and all bags must be no larger than A4 size and will be searched

Picnics are welcome, but please be aware they will also need to be searched.

Sun cream is permitted on site, please ensure you bring some with you if it is sunny.

If you are bringing any medication with you, please notify security at the gates.

Please be aware that stages and tents may use strobe lighting and may cause a reaction if you have photosensitive epilepsy.
