Heats and venues
Heats will be taking place at venues across the city in May. The venues are Millsy’s Café Bar, Knights, The Tin Music and Arts, The Arches, The Castle Grounds, The Box and The Khushi Grill Spon End. With the Indie final taking place at HMV Empire!

Acoustic - Millsy's Cafe Bar 20 Earlsdon St, Earlsdon, CV5 6EG
Heats will be taking place on 11 May, 18 May and 25 May. The final will take place on 31 May.
Contemporary - The Tin Music and Arts Units 1 - 4, The Canal Basin, CV1 4LY
Heats will take place on 21 May and 22 May. The final will take place on 28 May.
Desi - The Khushi Grill Spon End 91-92 Spon End, CV1 3HF
Heats will be taking place on 22 May.
DJ/Dance - Knights 2 Tone Village, Ball Hill, Walsgrave Road, CV2 4ED
Heats will be taking place on 10 May.
Groups - Knights 2 Tone Village, Ball Hill, Walsgrave Road, CV2 4ED
Heats will be taking place on 17 May.
Indie - Castle Grounds 7 Little Park St, CV1 2UR
Heats will be taking place on 9 May, 16 May and 23 May. The final will take place on 25 May at HMV Empire 22 Hertford St, CV1 1LF.
Rap, Reggae and Afrobeats - The Box at FarGo Far Gosford St, CV1 5ED
Heats will be taking place on 9 May. The final will take place on 30 May.
Rock - Arches Music Venue 22 - 23 Arches Industrial Estate, CV1 3JQ
Heats will be taking place on 11 May, 18 May and 25 May. The final will take place on 28 May.
Under 18s - The Tin Music and Arts Units 1 - 4, The Canal Basin, CV1 4LY
Heats will take place on 6 May and 13 May. The final will take place on 14 May.
Judges and voting
The judges for the main heats will be organised by Godiva Festival organisers, through a fair and inclusive process. Judges are selected through a judging pool based on our judges criteria which covers music industry experience, music knowledge, specific genre knowledge and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Each venue can hold as many heats as they deem necessary – the winners for each genre of music will go on to perform on the Godiva Festival Main Stage.
Both the judges and the audience will vote at the heats. Their votes will then be used to select the winners.
