Voodoo Kings

Voodoo Kings

Show time: Saturday 8 July - 3.50pm-4.20pm

A 'former bands' list for any one of this three piece would read like a who's who of the Coventry music scene, each has played their part in many successful bands over the years with VDK bringing the 3 together. Fans of the Voodoo Kings will remember a memorable Festival performance when Sam snapped his 7ft long double bass live on the BBC stage and who can forget Whip, drums, highlighting how nice the toilets are at the BBC studios! Singer and guitarist Dave is hoping Voodoo Kings performance at this year's Godiva Festival will be memorable for less destructive reasons.

The high-octane pace of the Voodoo Kings has helped them maintain an extensive list of gigs at a variety of venues around the UK, from appearing with Slim Jim Phantom at the O2 academy to performing their brand of stripped back Punk Skifflebilly on acoustic instruments. Being invited to play the main stage at Godiva 2017 fits the bands criteria perfectly and the lads couldn't be happier to play their hometown at the best free festival in the UK.

In the past, Voodoo Kings released their debut album ‘Systems Green’ which received critical acclaim, worldwide airplay plus DJ Steve Lamacq recommendation along with repeated BBC national airplay. At Stratford a video idea for Batman was born https://youtu.be/tbGA_x55vLk

They have also had a track appear on ‘Sent from Coventry Too’ compilation album in support of Sky Blue Trust, Zoe’s Place and Coventry Music Museum.

Last year the band were asked to contribute a piece of music for the Coventry made film Immune and to promote the film the band collaborated with Steve Tayler to produce Cramped Up! https://youtu.be/qXdIkjeB84M

The eagerly awaited second album is all but written and will be recorded in the autumn for an early release in 2018.

Systems Green is available at Vinyl Destination Coventry Retail Market.

If you can't wait to see Voodoo Kings rock the Main Stage at this year's Godiva Festival you can catch them in action on Sunday 4th June at noon on the Green stage at this year's excellent Motofest event
