As the excitement mounts towards Godiva’s 20th anniversary, Editors have been confirmed as the headline artists of the Saturday night Main Stage.

Editors have released six albums since their formation in 2002, with two albums going platinum. Their second album, ‘An End Has A Start’ reached Number 1 in the UK Album Chart in 2007, followed by their third album, ‘In This Light and on This Evening’, which also went straight to Number 1 in 2009.

They are best known for their singles ‘Papillon’, ‘A Ton of Love’ and ‘Sugar’.

They will play alongside other artists on Saturday’s Main Stage, including Jonas Blue, Gabrielle, and Professor Green.

Councillor Abdul Khan, Cabinet Member for Events, said: “We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to confirm our Saturday night headliner. This year is shaping up to be another fantastic year for Godiva Festival, and we’ll be sure to confirm further acts and artists as soon as we can.

”By announcing another headline act, we’re also very keen to make sure that people have the festival dates in their diaries as the event moved back to the end of August to accommodate the amazing BBC Biggest Weekend event back in May. It’s proving to be another great summer of music for the city that proudly celebrates we are the UK City of Culture.”

Also confirmed earlier this week was Gaz Coombes, who is set to headline Saturday’s Rhythm Tent. Also performing in the Rhythm Tent are Kyle Falconer, Lingua Franca and Rae Morris, all previously confirmed on the bill.

Other artists playing across the weekend include Jake Bugg, Ronan Keating, Little Comets, Duck Thieves and Blood Red Shoes.

Godiva Festival 2018 will take place from 31 August – 2 September in the city’s War Memorial Park and continues to be the biggest free family music festival in the UK, with last year’s event attracting 179,000 visits.

Coventry Godiva Festival is brought to you by Coventry City Council, in association with Free Radio and Jaguar Land Rover and supported by Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, Coventry University, Fargo and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
