Performing on: Sunday 2 September

Inspired by the work of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, MOBO nominated Coventry singer, Sandra Godley launched the Gosp-Ability choir in March 2018, live on air at BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, as a special wedding gift, a choir performance ahead of the happy couple’s Royal Wedding.

The choir, made up of people who have faced mental anxiety or physical challenges, performed a specially written song written by Sandra at Windsor Guildhall on May 19, the very venue Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles. They have also performed on BBC’s The One Show, Coventry’s Food Festival and Coventry Cathedral as part of Tearfund’s 50th Anniversary, hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Their on-going campaign to raise awareness through song, is supported by Coventry, City of Culture 2021 and is a partnership with experienced charities that provide frontline mental health support to people who may need it, whilst raising awareness and tackling stigma. Their story has been captured by a world-wide BBC Documentary (The Royal Wedding Singalong) and has received global acclaim.  They have become a shining example of hope and diversity and with a packed diary of performance date requests they are set to continue being a leading beacon with a bright feature.

‘I remember singing at the Godiva Festival in 2014 and it’s an absolute pleasure to bring the Gosp-Ability choir to the festival’s main state. We can’t wait! Sandra said.

The single ‘The Big Love song’ is available for download on ITunes.
